Terms of Use

1. What Riffo is

Riffo is a game for learning guitar: you play licks on an animated tab and the app listens through the microphone to check your notes. It also has a tuner, review sessions, backing tracks and Jam, which transcribes what you play.

Riffo has a free plan and an optional subscription, Riffo Pro (see section 2-A).

2-A. Riffo Pro (subscription)

The free plan includes the whole trail, every lesson, the tuner and part of the styles and Tone Lab, with Riffo's own ads between lessons. Riffo Pro unlocks all content and removes those ads.

• Plans: monthly or yearly. The price is shown on the subscription screen and in the store before purchase, in your local currency.
• Free trial: when offered (for example, 7 days on the yearly plan), you pay nothing during the trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the subscription starts and is charged automatically.
• Auto-renewal: the subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the same price until you cancel. Payment is charged by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) to your store account.
• Cancellation: cancel anytime in your Apple or Google subscription settings, at least 24 hours before renewal. Pro access continues until the end of the period already paid.
• Refunds: follow the Apple and Google policies, as they process the payment. Statutory consumer rights still apply.
• Restore: the subscription belongs to your Riffo account and can be restored on another device with "Restore purchases".

2. Account

• On first launch the app creates an anonymous device account, with no email, to save and sync your progress.
• You may sign in with email (an email link or a password) to take your progress to other devices.
• You are responsible for keeping access to your email and your password private. If you suspect misuse, change your password or contact us.
• You can delete your account at any time in Settings > Account or on the Delete account page.

3. Acceptable use

When using Riffo you agree not to:

• try to access other people's accounts or data, or bypass limits and security measures;
• overload, mass-automate or reverse-engineer the API for abusive purposes;
• use lick titles or any text to offend, deceive or infringe the rights of others;
• use Riffo for any unlawful purpose.

We may suspend accounts that break these terms, with notice whenever possible.

4. Riffo content

Riffo's licks, exercises, texts, audio, art and mascot are original and belong to Musico Labs, or are used under licence (see Credits). You may use them to study and play, but you may not copy them in bulk, resell them or redistribute them outside Riffo.

5. Your licks

The licks you create and save in Jam remain yours. You give us a limited, free, revocable licence to store them, sync them across your devices and show them to you. We do not publish your licks without your permission. Deleting a lick or your account ends the licence.

6. Microphone detection

Note detection depends on the microphone, the room, the instrument and the tuning. It can be wrong, especially with noise or an unplugged electric guitar. We work to make it accurate, but we do not guarantee that it is always right, nor that Riffo is available without interruption.

7. Protect your hearing

Keep the volume moderate, especially with headphones, and take breaks. Long exposure to loud sound can permanently damage your hearing.

8. Liability

Riffo is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, and without limiting your rights under the Brazilian Consumer Defence Code (CDC) or other mandatory consumer law, Musico is not liable for indirect damages, such as progress lost because of a device or connection failure. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law does not allow it.

9. Termination

You may stop using Riffo and delete your account whenever you want. If we ever shut the service down, we will give reasonable notice and a way to download your data.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app or on the website before it takes effect. Continuing to use Riffo afterwards means you accept the new version.

11. Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. Disputes may be brought in the courts of the consumer's place of residence.
